The idea behind EndoDNA

Your genetics are like your roadmap, or your own personal GPS system to your overall health and wellbeing.
Your DNA is like your personalized GPS. It can show you where the potential potholes are in the road, it can show you where … maybe there’s construction … So the idea is to mitigate or avoid those potholes in the road so that you can have an optimal experience with your therapeutic health and wellness, and we do that by looking at your genetics. (Len May)
Through your genetics, the team at EndoDNA can make fully specialized and personalized recommendations to you about what you need to start and stop doing to avoid those adverse medical instances, the potholes in the road.

Your endocannabinoid system

The team at EndoDNA uses your DNA and genetics to make specific recommendations to you about your health through machine learning and other tools so that those recommendations can be scaled.
[Endocannabinoid is] an actual system that we have in our bodies, and one of the main reasons probably that people get confused is … it barely gets taught in medical schools, but it is a regulatory system, and the role of the endocannabinoid system is to modulate the other systems and maintain homeostasis within our bodies. (Len May)
The endocannabinoid system sends signals up to the brain through the body’s central nervous system, and the brain decides which chemicals to secrete to get another system back into balance.

DNA recommendations and mental health

The mind and body are connected. What happens in the body can impact the mind, and it has been shown that if the body is struggling with a deficiency, then the person’s mental health can suffer as a consequence. The team at EndoDNA has recently started working with treatment-resistant depression because there are a lot of people who struggle with depression where standard medications are useless because they have a resistant genotype.
Then we can look at different drugs or different supplements … that may be better aligned with the individual for the symptomatic condition that they have, and from there they look at the possible adverse effects of that specific psychedelic or psychotropic.. (Len May)
For example, ketamine has recently been placed under study as a medicine to treat depression.

Learn to trust and listen to your body again

A lot of Western medicine seems to encourage people to disconnect from their bodies, distrust their signals, and stop any pain instead of trying to find out the true source. Many times, symptoms are signals, because it is very rare that the body is hurting for no reason.
Listen to your body. We lie to ourselves all the time, but we know. If something doesn’t feel right, there’s something going on, so because you have painful inflammation, it’s a signal. It’s telling you [that] something is causing that. (Len May)
Western medicine addresses what is happening, not why it is happening. It may treat the symptoms, but not the root cause. You need to learn how to trust your body again and listen to those signals. Be open-minded, and find the right way to heal your body.

MEET DR. CRISTINA CASTAGNINI

I am a licensed Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. While I may have over 20 years of clinical experience, what I also have is the experience of having been a patient who had an eating disorder as well. One thing that I never had during all of my treatment was someone who could look me in the eye and honestly say to me "Hey, I've been there. I understand". Going through treatment for an eating disorder is one of the hardest and scariest things to do. I remember being asked to do things that scared me. Things I now know ultimately helped me to get better. But, at the time, I had serious doubts and fears about it. If even one of my providers had been able to tell me "I know it's scary, but I had to go through that part too. Here's what will probably happen...." then perhaps I would not have gone in and out of treatment so many times. My own experience ultimately led me to specialize in treating eating disorders. I wanted to be the therapist I never had; the one who "got it". I will be giving you my perspective and information as an expert and clinician who has been treating patients for over 2 decades. But don't just take my word for it...keep listening to hear the truly informative insights and knowledge guest experts have to share. I am so happy you are here!
